ParaSight Battery Caddy
The GMRGear ParaSight is the solution for carrying immediate action or supplemental energy source for your CR123A, AA, 18350 and AAA powered device. This waterproof and closure captured compartment is low profile, impact resistant with endless mounting configurations. The ParaSight solves the dichotomy of having your Night Vision, Laser Unit, Optic, Flashlight, Active Hearing System or Camera in the optimal storage condition of unpowered with the seconds count mentality of having the power cell paired easily with the intended device. For those high consumption users of long patrols or countless hours of continuous operation, having an emergency “reload” of power stored on your person/rifle/goggle/helmet gives you the peace of mind for rapid change on the fly in seconds. No fumbling through pockets or tedious pouches to located a new cell when moments count. With a simple 15 degree twist the ParaSight locking lug system opens the waterproof compartment and the spring assisted body propels the battery into the perfect position for retrieval.
This operation was designed to be easily achieved with one hand. The motion is intuitive and smooth with one way action for high stress conditions. The throw knob can be oriented in 8 different positions giving you the choice to set the unit up to your specific configurations need. The unit weighs on 12 grams and is only 2 inches in length. The ingenious geometrical design allows for 4 different battery types with zero movement or sound once inside. The ParaSight is textured in signature diamond plate for firm wet or dry grip and a raised ridge cap for positive torque in operation. The body material allows for easy marking with spray paint, paint pen or adhesive glow/colored tape to add personal identification codes.
Mounting the ParaSight with the provided Shock Cord could not be easier. The reinforced spine has 6 mounting holes at 9, 12 and 3 o’clock with the same footprint on the closure cap allowing for endless width and user specific accommodation. The cap and both ends of the routing spine allows for the shock cord knot to be full retracted inside the body for added protection and seamless profile. Micro Zip-Ties, paracord, safety wire and 3/16th hardware are also compatible. Your creativity is allowed to run wild with how you employ this solution. This device can also be used as an emergency fire starter kit, Micro SD card storage housing for important personal files/documents or immediate need medication storage. The uses are only limited by your imagination.
How I use the ParaSight:
Primary Rifle: I house the CR123A for my PEQ-15 on my red dot mount with the cap facing to the PEQ battery side port. In under 10 seconds I can conduct a battery change. The longest action is unthreading the multiple full rotations of the PEQ cap, while the ParaSight only calls for a small degree push on the cap index knob. I have this device with a lithium cell at all times and the ParaSight for redundancy.
Night Vision: On my PVS-15 NODs, I have an AA cell with the cap facing towards my eyes. Similar to the PEQ, the longest motion is unscrewing the 15s battery cap but the ParaSight pops open with a slight twist. I have the throw knob oriented at an offset position to make the knob easier to access while the mounting spine is indexed with the 15’s tube/body articulation point. I have the goggles powered all times and the ParaSight for the emergency reload. PVS-15s are rated for 10 hours of continuous use, and I routinely exceed that in a given use.
Vest: I use the Invisio X50 active hearing protection system. I mount the PTT box behind the unit patch with the radio buttons facing up. The unit is powered by a AA battery and I keep an additional cell for immediate replacement tethered to the Invisio box.
Helmet: The rear of my helmet I have 2 ParaSights containing CR123As for use in my COTI unit. The clip on thermal imager drains batteries in around 2 hours and when in a patrol setting or LPOP use, I go through all 3 batteries in one night consistently. I have the ParaSights oriented down and weaved onto the shock cord retaining my counterweight pouch. One handed I can easily retrieve the cell and in seconds refresh the thermal.
Emergency Fire Starter Kit: I have additional sets inside my MiniMAP with additional 123A/AA as well as an emergency fire starting kit containing UCO Stormproof Matches, astrike strip and I wound the match sticks in Jute rope for an easy birds nest ignition bed.
The ParaSight concept was developed after a highly stressful incident when my COTI powered down at outset of leading an assault element in a FOF exercise. This product was the ultimate solution to never allow that to occur again.

Product Description (Detailed)
The GMR Gear ParaSight is an adaptable single-cell waterproof battery carrier that is the successor to the Kydex IA Caddy. It is capable of carrying a single 18350, CR123A, AA, AAA, or similarly sized battery cell within a rugged nylon polymer body and cap with waterproof sealing behind multiple Buna-N rubber O-Rings.
A 1/8 clockwise turn of the cap combined with positive pressure of the cap onto the body firmly interfaces 8 locking lugs on the body into 8 camming locking slots on the cap that create a constant-pressure axial face seal against one or two O-rings (one vs two O-ring seal is dependent on user configuration). A 1/8 counterclockwise turn of the cap engages angled faces in the cap's locking slots that cam the cap off and away from the body. The ParaSight's cap and body can be orientated in 8 different rotational positions based on user preference, lockup performance is identical in all positions. Although it is extremely rare to damage the lugs unintentionally, the ParaSight can still function with 100% effectiveness with as few as 3 locking lugs remaining.
Equipped with a captured nickel plated steel conical spring in the bottom cavity of the body, constant pressure is applied on the battery to prevent battery rattle and compensate for a wide variance in sizes (lengths) of different brands and specs of batteries. The spring also serves to assist in ejecting excessively short batteries from the body. The body’s interior cavity is purposefully oversized to all compatible battery sizes to prevent cells from becoming stuck within the cavity.
Diamond "knurled" texturing on the exterior of the body and ridged texturing around the cap combined with an overall semi-rough surface finish allow for easy grip of the assembly while being opened or closed in dry, wet, and oily environments without issue.
The ruggedized top spine on both the body and cap further assist in positive tactile identification of the orientation of cap to the body as well as providing increased leverage for locking and unlocking the cap. This spine has 4.2mm or 1/6in (0.167in) diameter holes on each of the 3 sides of the spine on both the body and the cap; 18 total holes on the body’s spine and 3 total holes on the cap. These holes are sized to work with standard NATO military cordage such as paracord and shock cord, but are compatible with any common cordage, wires, zip ties, and anything else you can fit through. The holes are oriented to permit a plethora of routing options to allow the user to lash or dummy cord the ParaSight with any combination and orientation of retention desired. Recessed oversized cavities on both ends of the body’s spine and the exterior end of the cap’s spine allow cordage knots or wire anchors to be tucked away to decrease the chance of snags while also increasing the longevity and durability of knotted cordage ends. A 3/16th (0.1875in) or M4.5 (4.5mm) screw will self-tap and bite into the 1/6th (0.167in) or 4.2mm spine holes without any functional damage to the ParaSight allowing for rigid attachment options with common hardware
The stored battery is protected by up to three (3) Buna-Nitrile O-rings in both face seal AND piston seal directions. The ParaSight comes with two (2) total O-rings pre-installed and pre-lubricated. One axial-face-seal 017 O-Ring in the top internal groove creates back-pressure on the locking lugs while also face-sealing between the body and cap. And a second 015 O-Ring on the interior male groove of the cap creates a radial-piston-seal against the interior bore of the body. Users may choose to replace this second radial-piston 015 O-Ring with the included 016 O-Ring to increase the sealing pressure for inclement use conditions, however it will noticeably increase the resistance in installing and removing the cap from the body. O-Rings are pre-saturated with Super Lube 56204 Clear Silicone O-Ring Lubricant which is Dielectric, NSF food grade, USDA H1 Clean, hydrophobic, and rated -58F to 392F (any excess lubricant on batteries will not interfere with electronics function, it’s dielectric and will actually improve contact).
Users may also optionally install a 3rd O-Ring on the bump flange. This bump flange around the body's circumference prevents the cap from scraping or rubbing against surfaces while being manipulated and protects the locking lugs from damage. This bump flange also provides an additional O-ring groove for adding an axial-face-seal (016, 017, 018, 019, or 020 size O-rings are compatible with this external groove. Experiment with different sizes to select resistance to user preference). This O-Ring groove is necessary to be used with alternative cap options where specified and wil interface with TBA accessories.
IP67 dust and water resistant (1 meter [39.4in] submersion for 30 mins) in factory configuration (015/016 O-Ring on the cap's radial piston seal AND 017/018 O-Ring on the cap's axial face seal).
The ParaSight is paintable with most off the shelf quality spray and acrylic paints. Experiment on small, less visible areas of the ParaSight. Recommended to paint with the cap affixed onto the body with O-rings installed. Use caution to not paint over critical dimensions such as sealing faces where O-rings interface and locking lug interfaces.
